So, have you been off your game recently then?

God knows I have, writing has been the last thing on my mind for the last couple of weeks. After a recent trip to the North of England left our car resembling something like a reject from a low-end bumper car crash scene, then as if that wasn’t enough, Covid-19 paid an untimely visit for the second time too.

I know, friendly hey? You couldn’t make that up even if you were dredging the pit of your story drafts for something, anything, to just right about.

Now I’m beginning to feel a little more human again at this point, those mythical words of John Wayne spring to mind right about now.

“Get off your horse and drink your milk!”

John Wayne was supposed to have said this catchphrase in the 1972 Western, The Cowboys, in which he plays a rancher whose ranch hands run off to join the Gold Rush, leaving him with the massive task of driving his cattle 400 miles to avoid financial disaster. He is forced to take on a bunch of local youths to help complete the cattle drive, despite his severe misgivings, as some of them are just school boys. This appears to be where the myth began, as being kids, they are too young to drink
