Thank you very much for all your responses Stephen. Your thought-out responses help a huge amount. Most of the days I am just fine but I think we all just that have that one day, when something triggers an emotion in you and, I find that the best way is to write about it. Your ideas about what makes good writing are right on track - a bit of a mixture and knowing when to add sadness, humour, or an appropriate metaphor into the mix is always a good choice. As you say, the delivery and being able to bring on an emotion truly helps what you are writing.

These days, most of us write online and never truly know our audience, so it can be difficult to write what you want to say, without being able to verbalize it with someone face-to-face. So being equipped with adding these skills into your writing can be vital.
