The do’s and don'ts of putting away your onions

I think that it is fairly true to say that the picture of those onions certainly does not resemble the ones you and I purchased at the supermarket recently, do they?

Of course, they don’t.

But they are more like the ones that I picked out of my garden though. I can’t say that they look appetizing at the moment either.

But hey, would you look any better if you had just been plucked out of the soil in your garden?

“However, if my homegrown onions came out like the one above, then I think I would be worried!”

So, everybody knows that if you are going to buy or grow onions then you should already know that you should store them in a cool, dark area.

Right?

But never forget to ensure that where you are storing them, does have access to ventilation. According to the National Onion Association, “don’t store whole onions in plastic bags, as the lack of air movement will reduce their shelf life.”
