What are your fears?

Maybe you are lucky, and simply just don’t have any, or you might be right at the far end of the scale, and your fear is so debilitating that you can’t even venture outside of your own front door…

Phobias. The overwhelming, intense, and sometimes illogical fear that can be beyond simple comprehension.

Data recorded within the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) do not hold specific information about these phobias, other than that they are grouped into (below.) Physicians & researcher tend to create names for new ones as they are reported to them.

DSM-5 rather categorizes them within five areas, which are,

  • fears related to animals (spiders, dogs, insects)
  • fears related to the natural environment (heights, thunder, darkness)
  • fears related to blood, injury, or medical issues (injections, broken bones, falls)
  • fears related to specific situations (flying, riding an elevator, driving)
  • other (fear of choking, loud noises, drowning)
