P art of the ethos that fuels platfroms like medium and vocal, is the magnetism attracting readers anmd writers to come together, reading each other all the time. That's what these platforms want, what they build their 'money bank' on. Their company ethos relies heavily on using the manipulatory powers of every individual's mental health. Such as, the almost underhand technique of attaching themselves to your mental health and, one-by-one, systematically destroying 'joy' cells from within you. This makes you guilty and more anxious thinking about what others are thinking like, 'why aren't they reading my stuff, but I'm reading their's, so they must read mine?'
But for the sake of sanity, it is up to each one of us to choose who and when we decide to read. For examply, try halfing the amount you try to read each day or, even read every other day? And don't feel guilty that you haven't read as many as you should! That's the whole point, the ethos eats away at you and in trurn builds on guilt for each of us. Choose when you want to read, choose when you don't want, go out when you want to!
It's your life - remember that first & foremost - don't make yourself ill.
