This article is inspired by one of Jan Sebastian’s articles on the subject of Aphasia, which she published back in July of this year.
Jan’s article made me think hard around this subject. After my many years of having worked with so many sufferers of this problem, and my experiences that I’ve gained over those times. I feel that it is important to share some of my knowledge base when it comes to the mental health aspects that surround this issue.
Aphasia is a disorder that results from damage to portions of the brain that are responsible for language. For most people, these areas are on the left side of the brain. Aphasia usually occurs suddenly, often following a stroke or head injury, but it may also develop slowly, as the result of a brain tumor or a progressive neurological disease.
