There are a number of stages that you do need to follow before you look to upgrading the available memory of your laptop.
Most laptops do have a maximum upgradable RAM limit (random access memory) to which you need to be aware of initially.
There is absolutely no point in wasting your money on a 3️⃣2️⃣GB (gigabyte) internal memory card if your laptop only allows a maximum upgradable limit of 1️⃣2️⃣GB. Your laptop will only ever be able to use what it was designed to facilitate and no more.
Bear that in mind before you do anything else.
Sounds stupid I know but, first check the make of your laptop and by accessing your system settings.
➡️ Press your windows start key to bring up the search menu.
➡️ Hit the settings icon.
This will bring up your system screen.
