… the pound(£); 12d made a shilling (s); and 20s made one £. Simple if you lived in pre-decimal times! Mind you, I remember the confusion when the new system was introduced. ‘Oldies’ found it difficult to cope for a while (helped/hindered? by conversion charts).

I know this one. It caused an awful confusion with many patients I looked after in elderly care units. Trips to shops with them was quite an eye-opener to say the least.
