Emotional And Physical Scars

It’s not simply those physical scars that affects you in life following an accident. You need to be looking at the emotional side to scars too if you want to remain happy and healthy

“From every wound there is a scar, and every scar tells a story. A story that says… I survived.”

Craig Scott.

Does anybody stop to think for a minute about where that scar came from?

Probably not.

But here’s the thing.

Scars are not simply physical. That unsightly mark on our skin that reminds of an accident we had years ago, or that awful traumatic physical moment we endured.

No, they are never just physical.

Scars leave behind memories.

Mental images of a time and a place we perhaps want desperately to forget, or equally a memory that does nothing more than makes us smile when we look back on it…

Over the many years of working in mental health, sure I’ve seen many physical scars left behind through both the faces of accidents and those caused through self-harm…
